Welcome to Connecticut Rehab & Medical Products Service Center

Our service center is open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. We can service most any make or model wheelchair, whether it is power, manual, lightweight or a scooter. We can repair your wheelchair at your home, healthcare facility, school or your job. Also, for your convenience, you can visit our office to have your chair repaired while you wait. Also, if you schedule to have your repair done at our repair center in Newington then you can have a free cleaning with our wheelchair washer.

To schedule a repair call (860) 666-8888 or (800) 457-3422 option 2.

As with any equipment you own, your wheelchair requires some basic safety checks to keep it working safely. Here are a few tips that you can do to maintain your wheelchair:

  • Keep your chair free of excess dirt, mud, moisture, and road salt. Once a month and other times as needed, wipe your wheelchair with a damp cloth and general purpose cleaner.
  • Inspect your wheelchair to ensure that all nuts, bolts, and attaching hardware are properly tightened.
  • Ensure that your wheel locks are properly adjusted and confirm that they lock the large wheels securely.
  • If you have pneumatic tires, check for proper tire pressure weekly.
  • If you have a power chair or scooter, be sure that you plug the battery charger into a grounded outlet.
  • Do not use or turn on other communication devices such as cellular phones, walkie-talkies, CB while you power wheelchair or scooter is on.
  • Use only batteries approved for use with scooters and power wheelchairs.
  • Do not go up stairs, steep inclines- doing so may result in some chairs tipping over.
  • If there is a change in your condition or a significant change in your body weight, please check with your doctor or therapist to see if your chair is still appropriate for you.
  • Do not use your cell phone while driving/using your power wheelchair or scooter.

These are just some basic guidelines and you should refer to your owners' manual for specific safety precautions and maintenance for your wheelchair or scooter.
